This is a summary of the discussion of A/B/C Rides, reviewing 2021 events and ideas for 2022.
General Comments:
- Try to avoid traversing the same roads several times per week.
-
- Marty will try to set up Tuesday & Thursday to have the same number of routes to avoid accidental overlap
- Out and back routes are boring
-
- This can be addressed for routes like Mehaffeey Park by changing the return route, perhaps along 57th Street
- Sometimes, like the Saturday C Route north on Buckhorn Road from Masonville when the A/B Route loops eastbound on Rist Canyon, this is intentional to provide motivation for riders to push themselves to go a little farther and build strength before turning back.
- Some folks complain of not being noticed on their first ride with the club, when they are looking to meet people and make new friendships.
-
- Suggestion to add FCCC Ambassadors who seek out new folks to help with orientation
- Suggestion to create some way to designate meet-up areas for each pace group before the ride starts. We could use chalk to mark the parking lot or have ride leaders hold signs.
- More emphasis on Ride Leader/Sweep responsibility to keep groups together
Weeknight (Tuesday/Thursday) Evening Rides
- Tuesdays will continue to meet at Grey Rock Sports Grill (formerly Ryan's).
-
- Western Boyd Lake route - eliminate figure 8, replace with 37th street west to Taft then North to Shields and Trilby
- Mehaffey Park route - return E on 57th street to either bike path or LCR 13 and 30E around Donath Lake, returning on Lemay
- Thursdays will meet at a different location each month to provide variety
-
- Ben "Irish" Peart offered to contact several restaurants in the area that may be willing to host and possible offer discounts to club members
-
- Jessup Farmhouse Restaurant or Barrelhouse
- Timnath Brewery
- Downton Loveland (4th Street) area. Parking near RR tracks, many restaurants in area
- Windsor
- Continue with Thursday Social Dinners, call for volunteers
-
- Gary and Amy asked to host in August
Weekend (Saturday) rides
- Negligible difference in attendance when switching from Sunday to Saturday in 2021
- Change meeting point to provide for after ride socializing
-
- Discussed Zwei Brewery next to Pro Velo Cycling at Harmony and College Ave
- Maybe start some rides in Loveland, to make Hygiene Mountain Fountain in range for C riders. A/B riders could continue to Boulder.
- Add monthly social brunch rides, call for volunteers
