    December News

    Hello everyone,

This is the second of a new series of monthly newsletters covering recent club activities and upcoming events.

    Holiday Party - December 10, 2022

We have reserved the Grey Rock Sports Grill gameroom for our Holiday party this year. We are planning to serve a Southwest buffet with dessert and soft drinks for $20 per person. A cash bar is available for alcoholic beverages, which can be ordered through your server. If enough people register, we may be able to get Carrot Cake! Reservations and payment will be done through our website until December 6th. Register now at https://fccycleclub.org/event-4983873

Bike to the Lights - December 15, 2022

Deck your bike out in lights and wear your Holiday kit for a fun and festive event! The club will ride from Grey Rock Sports Grill to The Gardens on Spring Creek’sGarden of Lights event and view the lights from outside the fenced area. A ticket into the garden is not required for this event. See you there! https://fccycleclub.org/event-4778321

First Ride of the Year – January 7/8, 2022

The annual first ride of the year is coming up soon and will be led by your club president Bill! It’s a D-paced ride for nearly 30 miles around most of Fort Collins. It's always a fun event and we hope to see many of you there! The 8th is reserved as a backup date for this event to handle bad weather. Sign up today! https://fccycleclub.org/event-5007249

    Camping/Glamping Trip

Plans for a 2023 camping trip continue and the board has narrowed it down to two locations near Estes Park: Hermit Park, and the YMCA Of The Rockies. Hermit park seems to have decent options to help us schedule the event and has cabins available as well as camping. The YMCA also has cabins and camping, but also provides a lodge which might make for a fun environment. We are targeting late July. VP Tracy is continuing her investigation on this.

    Wanda’s Ride 2023 Tentative Date

Wanda’s Ride this year was unfortunately rained out, but that won’t stop us from continuing to support a great cause. The board decided that August 12/13th would be good dates for the next event, and we have planned for bad weather this time! The event will likely start at Grey Rock due to increased parking availability. This information is still tentative but please keep this event in mind!

    Request for Suggestions

The board discussed budgeting for promotional swag this year such as club-branded stickers, cycling caps, socks, or T-Shirts. Please share your ideas on this topic with the board at board@fccycleclub.org

We are also asking the club for ideas about educational programs or presentations to be held this year. (For example, the Colby Pearce presentation last year)

    Cold Weather Riding

Check out https://gearchase.com/blog/the-ultimate-guide-to-cycling-in-cold-weather/ for tips on riding in cold weather! It was brought up at the recent member meeting and Martin thought this would be valuable information to share.
